Fates before joining Anders Army :
Adam Majewski was a graduate of the Stefan Batory Junior High School and High School in Lublin, which he graduated in 1926. Initially, a student of the Higher School of Economics / Warsaw School of Economics / in the years 1927-1930, and then the Faculty of Medicine of the Jan Kazimierz University in Lviv. He received his medical degree in 1936 and the title of doctor of medicine in 1938. Until the outbreak of World War II, he worked at the Surgical Clinic in Lviv, and then in Warsaw. He published 6 scientific papers in the field of surgery.
In 1939 he took part in the September Campaign. Interned in Hungary, from where he escaped in 1940 and made his way to the Polish Armed Forces in France, and then in Great Britain.
Military history:
He took part in operations of the Polish 2 Corps in the Middle East and in Italy. During the Italian campaign, he was a doctor of the 3rd Carpathian Rifles Battalion in the rank of captain (registration no. 1907/151). Injured during the Battle of Monte Cassino. Decorated with the Cross of Valor. In 1945, after the Battle of Bologna, he was appointed commander of the Polish Surgical Headquarters No. 350.
Post-War:
After returning to Poland in 1947, he worked as a doctor in Toruń and Lublin. Author of a popular book about the Polish 2nd Corps “War, People and Medicine” (Lublin, 1960) and other literary publications. From 1976 a member of the Polish Writers’ Union. He died in 1979 and was buried in Warsaw.
