    medals: Polish – Virtuti Military 5th class; Cross of Valour; Italian – Silver medal of Bologna for liberation city (year 1945) 

    Fates before joining Anders Army:

    A graduate of the State Adam Mickiewicz Junior High School in Vilnius before World War II (1938).

    Military history at Anders Army:

    Lieutenant of the 9th Carpathian Rifle Battalion of the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division of the 2nd Corps (ID military no. 1919/158), participant in the Italian campaign. In the Battle of Bologna, the commander of the 3rd company of the 9th Battalion, which together with the 4th company were the first to enter the liberated city. For this deed, Lieutenant Stalgis and his soldiers (and other selected soldiers of the 2nd Corps) were solemnly decorated by the authorities of the city of Bologna. Lieutenant Stalgis, along with other Polish commanders, was awarded the Silver Medal.

    Post-War: He emigrated and lived in Australia until his death. He died in 1993.
